For many years my cousin Mike has had my Grandpa Guier’s luminaries that he hand made. Mike and his wife recently moved and asked if anyone was interested in taking some. The Texas clan all jumped on them. We finally decorated the exterior of our house this weekend. It is nothing too extravagant, just luminaries and lights around the island and a big wreath. At least we no longer look like the scrooges of the block.
Here is Max after he sorted all of the luminaries
Matt working hard to make them all straight and perfect.

The kids really enjoyed being outside all day on Saturday. Here they are relaxing in our hammock
Here is our house all lit up and pretty.
Matt and I took a break from decorating to attend my friend Emily’s wedding that was at noon. When we returned home, Matt left with Olech to get Jimmy’s truck and pickup some new furniture that we had ordered. The place we purchase from only keeps what they have on the floor; they sell it and then replace it with a new piece. They never know if they are going to be able to replace them with the same pieces or not. Unfortunately when they got there Matt called me to tell me that they had taped a sold sign to our couch which was leather. When she took it off you could see where the tape had been. Naturally this was one of the pieces that they were not going to be able to get another one of for at least 6 months! He told me there was another couch there that he really liked but it was $1000 more expensive but really nice leather/material mixed. He was going to try and get the price down a little and just see what happens. Olech was going to send me a picture of it. I never got the picture of it but did get a call from Matt saying he was able to get the price dropped a bit and he was coming home with it. It was a good thing Matt has good taste! It is beautiful. We are now just waiting on our dining room table and chairs, our trunk coffee table and our end table. All those items likely won’t be in until the end of January.
Here is our new chair, and yes Max is a boy. He has one finger in his belly button and the rest of his hands down his pants watching TV.

The new TV console
After the furniture was in, Mom and I tackled the banister. We decorated it with garland, lights and bows that match my Christmas tree. We were decorating until about 11:00 on Saturday night. The only picture I have of the banister is one where Cecil is sitting on it below. I need to get a better one to post out here.
The kids had a blast Saturday night and Sunday playing in the box that our console came in. They made a playhouse out of it complete with windows, curtains and doors. They attempted to sleep in it on Saturday night but Max’s “eyes wouldn’t work” (in other words they wouldn’t close so that he could fall asleep.) They attempted last night again. For Max, he fell asleep almost immediately. Calyn just kept coughing and coughing. I finally told her she was going to have to go lay in her bed with a humidifier on. As I was tucking her in she said “maybe if I cough less tomorrow we can try again.” I then moved Max back to his bed too.
Cecil’s days with us in the year 2011 are numbered . Here are some snapshots of his shenanigans from the weekend.
