The Weekend at the Lake

Matt and I have always loved visiting the Head family (the owners of Head Country BBQ sauce) at their lake house. Matt and I have been together for almost 12 years. In that 12 years we have enjoyed numerous visits to the lake. We enjoyed thinking back this weekend at how things have changed over the course of those 12 years. Once we were young and stupid, drinking starting after lunch, boating, eating, jet skiing, drinking some more until the wee hours of the morning. Then we grew up a little drinking a little less, still eating a lot, still boating and jet skiing. Now we have a few drinks but pace ourselves because we know we will have a wake up call early, we still eat a lot and we still enjoy boating and jet skiing. My, my how things have changed
Only one time since Calyn has been in this world we have made it to the lake. She was 18 months old at the time and I remember that lake trip being exhausting. She didn't like the water or the boat and she was into everything.
This year we ventured out with Max and Calyn in tow. Our sights were set on Grove, OK and the chance to start new memories with our completed family. Although the trip started out a little rough with rain storms, a lost gas cap, a speeding ticket (fyi... my record is still clean so I will give you one guess who has the lead foot) and more rain. Lucky for us the kids were WONDERFUL in the car.
We had an amazing time at the lake with our friends The Heads, CR and Matt (the one evening we got to see them), Craig and Kelli. Calyn was in hog heaven with CR's 1/2 sister Erika and her sorority sisters that were there with her. She even stayed over there one afternoon with the girls while Matt and I went back to Danny and Carey's spec home where were staying in for the weekend. They were so sweet to want to include her in their girl party. She had a blast.

Max was great. He had a few two year old moments but he was easy to convince that he should be having fun and running around outside.

The hospitality of Danny and Carey as always was amazing. Danny is always there to make you smile and Carey just wants all to be happy especially the kids.  That always makes mommy happy. They are good people!
