Elf On The Shelf

The other day when Calyn and I were at Borders we saw this little elf in a box. The title on the box was The Elf On The Shelf a Chrstmas Tradition.  So what is the elf on the shelf? He is a little elf that Santa drops off at your house. He sits on your mantle during the day and then at night when everyone is asleep he uses his magic to return to Santa's workshop to tell Santa who was naughty and who was nice in the house that day. He returns by morning time but usually hides in a new spot. Once he is found he is to be returned to the mantle so that he can keep watch.
Santa amazingly came and dropped off our elf today while the kids were at mom's house. He wrote a clever note explaining the elf and asked the kids to name him.
So what is our elf's name??? Cecil. Matt has called Calyn Cecil since she was little. When he made the suggestion of Cecil for his name Calyn said That's a great idea!
Santa also brought Corry and Drew an elf tonight. At one point Drew was not sharing his bike as Calyn thought he should so she walked up to the mantle with her hands on her hips and said "Cecil, Drew is not sharing his bike. I think you should tell Santa" Later she had to come back and tell him that Drew was now sharing his bike.
After Calyn and Matt had left Merrick and Jimmy's house Corry and Drew were telling the elf what they wanted for Christmas so that he could tell Santa. It was precious!
So what does The Elf On The Shelf look like? Here he is.....

OMG - I guess I have never told you about Arkitt, our Elf on the Shelf from last year? Madeline was a perfect angel ALL December long last year! Even to the point that Arkitt found his way to OK for the last few days before Christmas. I was just telling someone today how I can't wait until December until Arkitt shows back up - maybe he'll come see us sooner? :)
