Pityriasis Rosea

A few weeks ago I noticed a little spot on Calyn's rear that looked like ring worm. I took it upon myself to diagnose her and started putting anti fungal cream on it. After awhile of doing this and covering it with a band aid it wasn't going down. I decided yesterday to take her in and get to the bottom of this "ring worm" and find out why it wasn't going away and why it seemed to be spreading over her torso.
The reason it wasn't going away is because it was not ring worm (go figure) instead it is called Pityriasis Rosea. Here is a link if you want to read about it on WebMD http://www.webmd.com/skin-problems-and-treatments/tc/pityriasis-rosea-topic-overview
Calyn's doesn't really look like the picture they have shown. Her "herald spot" is just really light pink and truthfully looks just like ring worm. The other spots on her torso are tiny tiny (most smaller than a pea) and look like dry patches of skin

The nurse said that normally they see about 2 cases a year but she alone had already seen 9 cases this year. It's not contagious and really she shouldn't have any symptoms except maybe some itching. There isn't a treatment for it. She did give us a Rx for a steroid cream in case Calyn's start itching but it won't treat it or keep it from spreading. Basically we just have to let it run its course. Luckily it doesn't seem to bother her at all!
